How We Started

In February 2021, we sent an anonymous survey to the community.  The 590 responses shared a common message: “We need help and to know how to get help”.

In response to the survey, we developed a platform for people to access information and care when they or someone around them is experiencing mental strain.

Community mental health and service availability have both declined and crisis services are overloaded.

Nationwide the following has increased:

• Suicides
• Suicidal Thoughts
• DepressionAnxiety
• Other mental health problems

Often the public doesn’t know how to help or what services are available.

“A convergence of factors may be leading to an increased risk of suicide attempts, suicidal ideation, and psychological distress among youth in Washington, including:

• The extended disillusionment phase of disaster for the COVID-19 pandemic, which is typically the disaster phase with the greatest behavioral health impacts.

• Other effects related to the pandemic, such as disruption of two academic years, economic impacts, and social isolation.
